Job summary

Gateway Health in Wangaratta is seeking a Carer Peer Worker for a rewarding temporary part-time role until 30/06/2027 (60.8 hours per fortnight). The role requires lived experience as a family member, carer or supporter of someone with mental health or substance use challenges, and involves supporting carers across the Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Centres.

• Demonstrated ability to provide trauma-informed peer support to carers.
• Proven ability to liaise with a variety of service providers and caregivers, both paid and unpaid.

About the Role

This is a rewarding temporary part-time opportunity until 30/06/2027 (60.8 hours per fortnight) based in Wangaratta. The Carer Peer Worker will have lived or living experience as a family member, carer or supporter of someone with mental health challenges, or substance use challenges.

Working in collaboration with local mental health carers and the Team Leader in the delivery of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Centres and outlets across the Hume Region. The Carer Peer Worker provides support and care to mental health carers, family and kin primarily as well as access to appropriate resources and services including brokerage for respite.

This role is classified under the Community Health Centre Stand Alone Services Social and Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022 Level 3 ($40.48-$43.42 per hour + superannuation)
