Job summary

The Cairnmillar Institute seeks a Canvas & Learning Technology Lead to manage and optimise Cairnmillar's digital learning ecosystem, focused on Canvas LMS. You will provide technical leadership across learning technologies to ensure secure, integrated, reliable systems for students, academic staff and professional services teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in IT / Education Technology or related field or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Demonstrated experience administering and optimising Canvas LMS or similar enterprise LMS.
• Strong understanding of learning technologies and digital learning environments.
• Experience with system integrations, APIs and third-party platforms.
• Ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills for complex system issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with documented training material creation.
• Experience in higher education or regulated learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the administration, configuration, governance and continuous improvement of the Canvas LMS.
• Manage Canvas system releases, updates, testing and new functionality implementations.
• Develop and maintain standards, documentation and processes to support consistent Canvas use.
• Lead integrations with student management systems, assessment tools, video platforms and third-party apps.
• Develop and maintain integrations using APIs, LTI standards and other supported technologies.
• Evaluate emerging learning technologies and opportunities to enhance learning through automation and analytics.
• Build partnerships with academic staff, professional services, vendors and external providers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Develop reporting and analytics capabilities within Canvas to support compliance, quality and accreditation.
