Job summary

Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane's PAH Cancer Trials Unit seeks a detail‑oriented scientist to support processing of patient samples for clinical trials, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to high scientific and quality standards.

In this role you will apply judgement to determine sample processing requirements for trials and research projects, assist with processing, testing, documentation and data reconciliation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Science or Biological Science.
• Demonstrated scientific judgement and ability to apply principles to trials and research samples.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for researchers and trial teams.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and time management.
• Collaborative approach and commitment to professional development.
• Clinical trials experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Apply scientific judgement to determine sample processing requirements for clinical trials and research projects.
• Assist with patient sample processing, testing, documentation and data reconciliation.
• Maintain accurate trial sample records and contribute to activity reporting.
• Provide scientific advice, education and guidance to researchers, trial coordinators and research nurses on sample requirements.
• Contribute to development of procedures, protocols and quality improvement initiatives within the Cancer Trials Unit.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support safe, high-quality clinical research in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and research ethics guidelines.
