Job summary

Twelve Apostles Café, a premier hospitality venue along Victoria's Great Ocean Road, seeks a Café Shift Supervisor to lead by example and drive outstanding guest experiences.

You will support the Site Manager in daily operations, coach a high-performing Front of House team, and ensure service excellence across all areas of the venue.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hospitality supervisory or team leader role (essential).
  • Experience in high-volume cafés, restaurants, tourism venues, or similar environments.
  • Outstanding leadership and people management skills.
  • Current RSA Certificate (essential).
  • Full Australian working rights, ability to be based near the Great Ocean Road.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Site Manager in the day-to-day operation of the café, restaurant, Grab & Go service, and functions.
  • Lead and supervise Front of House team members during allocated shifts.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service across all service areas.
  • Coordinate daily service, allocate staff responsibilities, and monitor workflow.
  • Provide coaching, training, and ongoing support to team members.
  • Assist with onboarding and developing new employees.
  • Handle customer enquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
  • Support stock control, ordering, and inventory management.
  • Ensure food safety, RSA, WHS, and company policies are followed.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and end-of-day reconciliation.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure seamless service.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and venue readiness.

About the Role

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations across all front‑of‑house areas. You will assist with leading the team, maintaining exceptional service standards, and creating a positive experience for every guest.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Site Manager in the day-to-day operation of the café, restaurant, Grab & Go service, and functions.
  • Lead and supervise Front of House team members during your allocated shifts.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service is consistently delivered across all service areas.
  • Coordinate daily service, allocate staff responsibilities, and monitor workflow.
  • Provide coaching, training, and ongoing support to team members.
  • Assist with onboarding and developing new employees.
  • Handle customer enquiries and resolve complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Support stock control, ordering, and inventory management.
  • Ensure food safety, RSA, workplace health and safety, and company policies are followed.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and end-of-day reconciliation.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure seamless service.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and venue readiness at all times.
  • Act as the Site Manager in their absence when required.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a hospitality supervisory or team leader role (essential).
  • Experience working in high-volume cafés, restaurants, tourism venues, or similar environments.
  • Outstanding leadership and people management skills.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
  • Current RSA Certificate (essential).
  • Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and peak tourism periods.
  • Full Australian working rights, ability to be based near the Great Ocean Road.
Desirable
  • Hold First Aid and Food Safety Supervisor certificates.
  • Multi‑outlet or kiosk/counter‑service experience.
  • Experience in tourism or large‑volume hospitality operations.
  • Coffee making is highly regarded.
  • Multilingual skills are an advantage, as we welcome visitors from around the world.
