Job summary

Stanley Green in Darlinghurst is seeking a Cafe Supervisor to oversee the cafe floor, lead the shift team and work closely with the General Manager to maintain exceptional service, stock control and a welcoming atmosphere.

You will train and mentor staff, manage daily opening and closing procedures, handle stock orders, ensure food safety and cleanliness, and help with rostering and recruitment. This is a hands-on role in a distinctive plant shop cafe that values community and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in a cafe or hospitality environment, ideally in a supervisory or team-leading role.
• Ability to train staff in service standards and procedures.
• Knowledge of stock control, ordering and food safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team: Supervise cafe staff on shift, provide hands-on support and ensure service standards are consistently met.
• Train and develop staff: Build team confidence through training in service, product knowledge, procedures and our S.O.S. standards.
• Manage stock and ordering: Place supplier orders within budget, monitor stock levels, minimise wastage and complete monthly stocktakes.
• Own opening and closing procedures: Ensure opening procedures are followed consistently and complete end-of-day cash counts when closing.
• Maintain presentation: Keep the cafe and shop floor clean, organised and presentable throughout the day.
• Manage compliance: Ensure food is stored, prepared and served safely, and follow workplace health and safety procedures.
• Support the wider team: Assist with cafe rostering and recruitment, maintain uniform standards and communicate operational issues to the General Manager.
• Keep operations running smoothly: Update cafe items and pricing in Square POS, organise monthly deep cleans and report maintenance issues.
