Anglicare Sydney is seeking a Café and Functions Assistant to help create a home-like atmosphere while serving coffee and meals to residents.

You will work across our village cafes, handle POS transactions, support events, and maintain a clean, welcoming space with a team that values compassion and excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience in food service or front of house with barista skills.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Empathetic and respectful communication with elderly residents.

Your opportunity

As a Café and Functions Assistant, you’ll be doing more than serving coffee - you’ll be creating an atmosphere that feels like home for our residents!

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering top-notch customer service with warmth and a smile
• Preparing food and beverages with care, including crafting delicious espresso coffee
• Operating our POS system and managing payments effortlessly
• Ensuring the café is always tidy, welcoming, and ready for action - from setup to clean-up
• Supporting events and activities that bring life to our villages!

What you’ll bring

Empathy to interact respectfully with elderly residents, attention to detail, and knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

You share our organisational values of integrity, justice, compassion and excellence, and bring them to everything you do.

What’s required:

• Responsible Service of Alcohol
• Working with Children Check
• 6 months experience in food service or front of house experience, along with barista skills

What’s preferred:

• Food Handling Certificate
• Hospitality and customer service experience

Your commute is within 20mins of our locations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A kind, team-focused attitude and willingness to learn.

Availability across Monday to Sunday, during family friendly hours between 7:30am - 3:30pm, we also operate 3 week nights.
