Job summary

Vorstrom Vacuum Equipment in Warwick is seeking a Cadet Draftsperson to join the design and engineering team. This role offers on-the-job training and sponsorship to complete a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting.

School leavers or early-career entrants are encouraged to apply, with mentoring from an experienced drafting team and hands-on experience on vacuum equipment projects. Ideal candidates are team players with a detail-oriented mindset and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and contribute to drafting tasks.
• Attention to detail is essential for accurate drawings and BOMs.
• Comfortable with computer-based tools and CAD software.
• Prior CAD experience is a bonus but not required; sponsorship is offered for training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise engineering drawings under supervision.
• Learn to read specifications, drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Use SolidWorks to create and update drawings and models.
• Pursue a Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting on the job.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and workshop teams.
• Potential to support the commissioning team as experience grows.

Job description

Vorstrom Vacuum Equipment is looking for a Cadet Draftperson to join the design and engineering team in Warwick. This is an opportunity for someone leaving school or early in their career to start a career in engineering drafting. You will be supported and trained through a Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting, with on-the-job training across the range of vacuum trucks and tankers. Applicants who are completing or have completed a Certificate IV are also encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

Preparation and revision of engineering drawings under supervision

Learning to read and interpret drawings, specifications and bills of materials

Using CAD software (Solidworks) to create and update drawings and models

Complete a Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting

Liaise with the engineering, production and workshop teams

Potential to support the commissioning team

School leavers (or soon to be) welcome

Also open to those completing (or have completed) Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting (or similar)

Attention to detail and desire to learn

Comfortable using computers

Previous CAD experience is a bonus (but not required)
