Job summary

Capital Linen Service (CLS) is a major ACT Government self-funded enterprise delivering linen and laundry services to hospitals and care facilities across Canberra. About the Role

As Business Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role within Capital Linen Service (CLS), partnering with the Executive Branch Manager to drive the strategic, commercial and operational success of one of the ACT Government's largest self-funded business enterprises.

Operating in a complex and fast-paced environment, you will lead the organisation's business services functions, providing strategic oversight of financial management, commercial operations, procurement, customer service and business improvement activities. Your leadership will help ensure CLS remains financially sustainable, commercially competitive and responsive to the needs of its diverse customer base.

This role requires a commercially astute and people-focused leader who can develop strategy and turn it into action, identify opportunities for growth and innovation, and deliver tangible business outcomes. You will provide high-level advice to senior executives and key stakeholders, using financial and operational insights to inform decision-making and support long-term business planning.

Working across the organisation, you will lead initiatives that improve operational efficiency, strengthen governance and risk management practices, and enhance organisational capability. You will also oversee budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting processes, ensuring that CLS continues to achieve its financial objectives while maintaining high-quality service delivery.

The Business Manager is responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and customer focus. You will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and customers, ensuring the organisation is well positioned to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Mandatory

• Experience in senior management role in finance and business management.
• Drivers Licence (C-class)

Highly Desirable

• Tertiary qualifications in Business or Finance
• Laundry Experience in senior roles within a commercial laundry environment.
• Experience working in a government or similar public sector environment, Government Business Enterprise is preferred.
• Procurement and Contracts experience
