Job summary

Downer Professional Services is seeking a highly organized Business Management Officer to support the LAND program. You will coordinate governance, project administration, risk management and stakeholder engagement within a Defence acquisition environment.

Working with Project Managers and the Commercial Manager, you will ensure governance requirements are met and information is available for senior leadership. You will help manage governance forums, risk meetings and onboarding activities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting project, program, PMO, governance or business management functions.
• Strong project coordination, planning and reporting capability.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and review project documentation.
• Demonstrated understanding of project management principles and governance processes.

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Business Management Officer to support the delivery of the LAND program. This role sits at the heart of the project office and is responsible for coordinating governance activities, project administration, risk management, stakeholder engagement and business support functions across a complex Defence acquisition environment.

What You’ll Do

Working closely with Project Managers, the Commercial Manager and the Project Director, you will help ensure project activities are coordinated effectively, governance requirements are met and key stakeholders remain informed and engaged. You will play a critical role in supporting project governance, coordination and administration activities that enable the successful delivery of a major Defence capability program.

You will:

• Coordinate project office activities, tasking, governance requirements and business administration functions.
• Manage project reporting, approvals, correspondence and information progressing for senior leadership review and clearance.
• Coordinate governance forums and risk meetings, providing secretariat support, action tracking and stakeholder engagement.
• Support vendor engagement, project onboarding activities and the establishment of project governance and administrative processes.

You bring strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining a focus on quality outcomes. You enjoy working across multiple stakeholder groups and are comfortable operating in a dynamic Defence environment.

You will ideally have:

• Experience supporting project, program, PMO, governance or business management functions.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and review project documentation.
• Demonstrated understanding of project management principles and governance processes.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
