Downer is seeking a Financial Management Officer to support the delivery of one of the Major Joint Projects. Working within a small, high-performing project team, you will play a critical role in supporting financial planning, budget management, reporting, and procurement across a project valued at more than $100 million.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the delivery of enhanced Defence capability while working closely with project leadership and key stakeholders.

Financial Management Officer

Downer Professional Services comprises our Technical, Advisory and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a trusted advisory and delivery partner supporting some of Australia's most important Defence capabilities.

About the Role

We currently have an opportunity for a Financial Management Officer to support the delivery of one of the Major Joint Projects. Working within a small, high-performing project team, you will play a critical role in supporting financial planning, budget management, reporting, and procurement activities across a project valued at more than $100 million. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the delivery of enhanced Defence capability while working closely with project leadership and key stakeholders.

What You'll Do

• Support financial performance reporting and project financial governance activities.
• Assist with long-term and short-term budget planning across a project portfolio exceeding $100 million.
• Maintain and update financial management records to ensure alignment with project schedules and delivery plans.
• Support and coordinate major project payments and financial transactions.
• Prepare financial documentation in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and governance requirements.
• Contribute to procurement and purchasing activities that support project delivery outcomes.

What You'll Bring

You are a finance professional who is organised, detail-oriented and capable of working effectively in a dynamic project environment.

• Demonstrated experience in budgetary management and financial administration.
• Experience preparing financial reports, submissions and financial documentation in line with organisational policies and guidelines.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment while also demonstrating initiative and autonomy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience in a government finance function would be advantageous.
• Experience working within a CASG project environment would be highly regarded.
• Formal qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Financial Administration or a related discipline.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
