Job summary

QT Gold Coast is seeking a driven Business Development Manager to lead proactive sales and expand our presence in the Gold Coast corporate, MICE, and leisure markets. You will drive client engagement, build a powerful pipeline, and work closely with the Director of Sales to win new business.

This outward-facing role requires relationship-first selling, strategic account development, and a strong focus on revenue growth, pricing strategy, and market trends to outpace competitors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hotel or hospitality sales with Gold Coast corporate/MICE network.
• Proactive, relationship-first sales approach.
• Strong understanding of revenue targets and P&L basics.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive sales for the hotel, including calls, site inspections, and client meetings.
• Partner with Director of Sales on strategic account development and new opportunities.
• Convert MICE and room-night leads to win competitive business.
• Build a strong pipeline of corporate room-night business.
• Support national sales with rate tenders and track won/lost/pending.
• Monitor market mix, pricing, and competitor movements.
• Maintain relationships with decision-makers and event planners.
• Represent QT Gold Coast in the local business community.
• Keep the CRM (iVvy) up to date for visibility.
• Collaborate with Conference & Events team for handover from conversion to delivery.

The Opportunity

QT Gold Coast is looking for a driven, relationship-first Business Development Manager to lead proactive sales and grow our presence across the Gold Coast's corporate, MICE and leisure markets.

This is a genuinely outward-facing role. You'll be in market building relationships, opening doors, converting opportunities and giving clients new reasons to choose QT. Working closely with the Director Sales, you'll own a strong pipeline of new business and help grow QT's share of the Gold Coast's competitive luxury and lifestyle hotel market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead proactive sales for the hotel, including sales calls, site inspections and face-to-face client meetings
• Partner with Director of Sales on strategic account development and new business opportunities
• Convert MICE and room night leads, winning business from the competition through confident client engagement
• Build a strong pipeline of new corporate room night business and revenue-generating initiatives
• Support national sales with rate tenders, keeping accurate records of business won, lost and pending
• Track market mix, pricing and competitor movements to keep QT ahead
• Maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, meeting planners and industry stakeholders
• Represent QT Gold Coast in the local business community, building a network that drives new opportunities
• Keep CRM system iVvy fully up to date so all client activity is tracked and visible to the team
• Work with the Conference & Events team to ensure a seamless handover from conversion through to delivery

What you'll bring

• Proven experience in hotel or hospitality sales, ideally with an existing network across the Gold Coast's corporate and MICE market
• A confident, proactive approach to new business development, and a genuine drive to seek out and win new leads
• Strong commercial acumen, comfortable working with P&L reports, forecasts, budgets and revenue targets
• Excellent relationship-building skills at every level, from General Manager through to key clients and stakeholders
