SMA Australia is seeking a talented Business Development Manager – Digital Solutions in our Large-Scale team. The role is hybrid, combining home-based work with time at our North Sydney office, to drive end-to-end digital sales and ensure customer success.

You will own the digital customer journey from pre-sales qualification through deployment and renewal, collaborating with product sales, engineering, and support for value across Connectivity, Monitoring, Analytics and Cyber Security.

Qualifications

• Experience with business customers in technical industries such as renewable energy, software, technology, or industrial solutions.
• Background in customer-facing roles such as solution sales, customer success, account management, or technical consulting.
• Ability to explain technical products and features in a way that clearly demonstrates their value to customers.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and internal teams.
• Comfortable collaborating across different functions, including sales, operations, engineering, and technical support.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and support customers throughout their digital solution journey.

Responsabilités

• Act as the primary point of contact for digital solutions within SMA's sales process.
• Identify and develop opportunities for digital products and services across hardware, EPC, and customer projects.
• Present the value and benefits of SMA's digital portfolio, including Connectivity, Monitoring, Analytics, and Cyber Security.
• Support solution design, pricing, technical discussions, commercial proposals, and contract closure in partnership with the sales teams.
• Coordinate closely with the Digital Sales Manager (HQ) to align digital sales strategies and activities.
• Own customer relationships throughout the post-sales lifecycle, driving onboarding, adoption, satisfaction, retention, and renewals.
• Manage customer implementation and onboarding activities from kickoff through to successful go-live, working closely with Digital Project Engineers.
• Identify account growth opportunities and promote the expansion of digital solutions across customer portfolios.
• Gather customer feedback and insights to support product enhancements and future digital development.
• Collaborate with Digital Project Engineers, Cloud Operations, Product Management, and Service & Support teams to resolve challenges and improve customer outcomes.
• Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, standardisation, automation, and the development of scalable implementation practices.
• Success in this role will be measured by digital sales growth, customer adoption, retention, satisfaction, renewals, account expansion, and effective cross-functional collaboration.

SMA Australia has a full-time opportunity for a talented Business Development Manager – Digital Solutions in our Large-Scale team. The position is hybrid ie, a mix of working from home and working at our North Sydney office.

About the role:

This role acts as the critical link between commercial and operational functions, delivering end-to-end digital sales for new customers, whilst also ensuring customer success support to maximise customer value and business performance. The role owns the digital customer journey from pre‑sales qualification through to product implementation, adoption, expansion, and retention, ensuring commercial success and customer satisfaction for SMA’s Large Scale digital portfolio. This is a new position and works closely with the product sales team and acts as the digital expert for both internal and external customers.
