Job description

Our client is an established commercial construction business with a strong reputation for delivering a diverse mix of projects across Sydney. The business has built long-standing relationships across the property and facilities market, with a significant proportion of work generated through repeat clients, referrals and trusted relationships.

The Projects team delivers a varied mix of commercial construction work including fit-out, refurbishment, building upgrades, remedial works and more complex project works. It is supported by in-house maintenance and electrical capability, giving the business a broader offering to clients and creating multiple avenues for repeat work and long-term relationships.

This role will report directly to the General Manager and will play an important part in continuing to grow the division’s pipeline and market presence.

The Opportunity

You’ll spend your time in the market building relationships, identifying opportunities early and positioning the business with the right clients before projects formally come to tender.

Your network may include building owners, facilities teams, asset managers, commercial agents, tenant representatives, project managers and property consultants.

The business already benefits from a strong level of repeat work, so you won’t be starting from scratch. The opportunity is to strengthen those existing relationships while opening new doors and creating a broader pipeline of project opportunities.

The project mix is varied, giving you access to a much broader client base and more ways to generate work.

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute business development initiatives for the Projects division
  • Build and strengthen relationships across the commercial property and construction market
  • Develop networks with building owners, facilities teams, asset managers, agents, tenant reps and consultants
  • Identify upcoming projects and opportunities before they formally enter the market
  • Support client engagement throughout the tender and pre-construction process
  • Represent the business at meetings, industry events and networking opportunities
About You

You may currently be working for a commercial builder, fit-out contractor, industrial contractor, property services business, facilities provider or broader construction company.

The business is open to someone from a broader commercial or industrial construction background who brings the right network, commercial awareness and ability to create opportunities.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Proven business development experience within construction, property or a closely related market
  • An established network across areas such as building owners, facilities, commercial agents, tenant representatives, asset managers and property consultants
  • A track record of turning relationships into genuine project opportunities
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the construction project lifecycle
  • Confidence engaging with senior decision-makers
  • A natural, relationship-driven approach to business development
  • Strong networking, communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to work autonomously while remaining closely connected with operational and project teams
Why Join?

You’ll be representing a company that can support clients across projects, maintenance and electrical, giving you multiple ways to open doors, deepen relationships and create repeat opportunities.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • An established Projects team with strong delivery capability
  • A high level of repeat and referred business
  • A diverse project offering rather than a narrow focus on one sector
  • Existing relationships across the commercial property and facilities market
  • Direct access to the General Manager and senior leadership
  • Genuine autonomy to build your network and influence the division’s growth
  • A professional but genuinely friendly culture where people know each other, support each other and enjoy coming to work
  • A team that makes a point of greeting each other properly every morning, with music playing in the office and a relaxed but high-performing atmosphere
  • A business that has doubled year on year and has ambitious, inspiring growth plans ahead
  • The opportunity to join at a stage where there is already strong momentum, but still plenty of room to make an impact
