4Tel builds the software that keeps transport networks moving safely across heavy rail, light rail, buses, ferries and ports. From our Newcastle base we deliver systems used in Australia and overseas: train control, vehicle tracking, worksite protection and more. It’s real-world software that people rely on, and the business is growing. We're looking for a Business Development Manager to help shape our next phase of growth by building meaningful relationships, understanding customer challenges, uncovering new business opportunities, and identifying emerging market trends. If you enjoy connecting with people, thinking strategically, and creating opportunities that drive long-term success for both our clients and our business, we'd love to hear from you.
We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to play a key role in identifying and securing new business opportunities across the rail industry. Working closely with internal stakeholders, customers and industry partners, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with rail infrastructure managers, train operators and other key decision-makers to support the continued growth and success of the business.
This is a permanent, full-time position based on-site at our Warabrook (Newcastle, NSW) office, facilitating close collaboration with our leadership, operational and technical teams. As a key representative of the business, you will build strategic relationships across the rail sector, attend conferences and networking events, identify new opportunities, and contribute to the preparation of high-quality tender submissions. A willingness to undertake occasional interstate and overseas travel is required to support customer engagement and business development.
This role offers a unique opportunity to combine strategic business development, relationship management, market intelligence, and tender coordination while helping shape the future direction of the company within the rail sector.
This role is only open to permanent residents of Australia, preferably from the greater Newcastle area, or those willing to relocate to Newcastle at their own expense. Applicants must have a driver's licence and own transport. We are not able to sponsor overseas applicants.
