Hinchen Recruitment Group in Brisbane invites you to join a newly created Business Development Manager – B2B Acquisition role. You will focus on building relationships with business owners and senior decision-makers to explore genuine acquisition opportunities within a highly regulated services environment.
This is a Brisbane-based hybrid position working closely with the COO, offering exposure to an established national organisation and a dynamic growth agenda.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created Business Development role where your success will come from your ability to build trust, listen well and develop genuine relationships with different sized business owners.
Joining an established, purpose-driven national organisation entering an important period of growth, you will help identify and progress potential business transition and acquisition opportunities across a highly regulated services environment.
This is not traditional transactional sales. There are no hard-sell conversations.
Instead, you will engage business owners and senior decision-makers, understand their circumstances and future plans, and create the trust needed to explore whether there is a genuine opportunity to work together.
As the COO describes it: “It is relationship selling. It’s not sales sales. It is about being able to listen.”
For many of the people you will engage, their business represents years of hard work, deeply established customer relationships and strong connections with their employees and communities. Your role is to understand what matters to them, recognise when the timing may be right and help progress meaningful commercial conversations.

Your role is to understand what matters to them, recognise when the timing may be right and help progress meaningful commercial conversations.
Why this role?
There is already an established target market and previous engagement with a number of organisations, giving you a strong platform from which to begin.
Your role will involve re-engaging existing contacts, initiating new conversations, building relationships and understanding where each organisation may be in its thinking. You will conduct discovery conversations, identify genuine commercial opportunities and progress those relationships to the point where senior leaders can become involved.
You will not be expected to undertake formal due diligence or manage the financial and legal transaction yourself. Your strength will be creating the opportunity, qualifying it and ensuring the right conversations happen at the right time.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Your industry background is less important than how you sell.
You may come from media, advertising, travel, professional services, recruitment, financial services, healthcare, technology, insurance or another service‑based B2B environment.
What matters is that you know how to develop relationships rather than simply push a product.
You will ask good questions, listen carefully and understand that the strongest commercial outcome may take several conversations to develop.
You will be comfortable initiating contact and progressing opportunities, but equally comfortable slowing the conversation down when the situation requires it.
You will bring:
The right person may simply be an excellent relationship‑based salesperson who understands how to uncover a need, position a solution and build enough trust to progress a significant commercial conversation.
The Environment
You will be joining a collaborative organisation where strong commercial performance and positive customer outcomes are equally important.
The role will work closely with an experienced COO who will provide significant support as you learn the organisation, its proposition and the nuances of the market.
For this reason, being Brisbane based and spending regular time in the office will be important, particularly during your initial onboarding.
The organisation operates a hybrid working model, with much of the external relationship development conducted through phone, email and video meetings.
The successful person will be commercially driven, curious and confident, but they will also have the emotional intelligence to recognise that not every conversation should feel like a sales conversation.
If you are looking for a Business Development opportunity where listening, relationship building and commercial outcomes genuinely go hand in hand, we would love to hear from you.
