Job summary

Ampol is seeking a Business Analyst to navigate complexity, translate requirements, map processes, and drive outcomes from concept to delivery. You’ll bridge business needs and technology, ensuring value for customers and the business.

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders and support end-to-end delivery, with a hybrid work model and opportunities for career growth within Ampol's Tech, Digital and Data teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in business analysis within large, complex environments.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and balance priorities.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills across all levels.
• Pragmatic and adaptable mindset; comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to distil complex problems into actionable insights.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent; BABOK, ITIL v3/v4 Foundation, or Agile certifications highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Act as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure clear, aligned requirements.
• Gather, analyze, and document business and user requirements with appropriate models.
• Conduct impact and gap analyses to define current and future state processes.
• Translate requirements into testable outcomes and support user acceptance testing.
• Partner with stakeholders to develop business cases and evaluate solution options.
• Support end-to-end delivery from requirements through design, testing, implementation, and transition to BAU.
• Build strong relationships across the organisation and facilitate workshops.

About the role:

As Business Analyst, you’ll navigate complexity, translate requirements, map dependencies and processes, manage multiple concurrent projects, and drive outcomes from concept through to delivery. You’ll be the bridge between business needs and technology, ensuring every solution delivers value to our customers and the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Acting as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure clear, aligned, and actionable requirements for complex technical solutions.
• Gathering, analysis, and documentation of business and user requirements, using appropriate models and techniques to tell the story of what’s needed — and why.
• Conducting impact and gap analyses to define current and future state processes, identifying opportunities and dependencies across systems.
• Translating requirements into testable outcomes, defining acceptance criteria, and supporting user acceptance testing.
• Partner with stakeholders to develop business cases and evaluate solution options (build vs. buy, process changes, integrations).
• Support end-to-end delivery - from requirements through design, testing, implementation, and transition to operations/BAU Support
• Build strong relationships across the organisation, influencing decision-making, facilitating workshops, and pushing back constructively when needed to ensure clarity and quality.

Qualifications & Experience

• Strongly preferred – experience with P&C systems including Payroll, RTA, WFM and HRIS
• Proven experience in business analysis within large, complex environments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing priorities and maintaining momentum across teams.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills: You can engage at all levels and influence outcomes with confidence.
• A pragmatic, adaptable mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and driving structure where it doesn’t yet exist.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to distil complex problems into clear, actionable insights.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience. Certifications such as BABOK, ITIL v3/v4 Foundation, or Agile highly regarded.
