Job summary

Sydney Water is seeking a proactive Business Analyst to support the Flow initiative, focusing on data analysis, reporting and continuous improvement across field operations. You will lead insights, monitor KPIs, manage system changes, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimise performance and deliver business value.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Business Analyst role.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and advanced SQL skills.
  • Proficiency with SQL Developer, Oracle, Excel, Power BI, and SAP Business Objects.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead reporting, analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for Flow.
  • Monitor system performance, KPIs and benefits realisation; address variances.
  • Partner with stakeholders to enhance system performance and support change initiatives.
  • Manage system enhancements, configuration changes, UAT, releases and onboarding of contracts.
  • Conduct data quality investigations and audit large datasets.
  • Deliver compliance and operational reporting and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Use BI tools to extract, visualise and present insights.
  • Integrate data across systems to support decision-making and business cases.
  • Collaborate with Digital, vendors and business teams to implement improvements and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate performance outcomes, risks and recommendations through reports and engagement.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and analytical Business Analyst to support the post go-live phase of Flow—our transformative initiative aimed at revolutionising field operations through smarter scheduling and resource allocation. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality data analysis, reporting, and insights that drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across our field operations.

As a Business Analyst, you will lead reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives for Flow, including:

Monitoring system performance, KPIs, and benefits realisation, identifying and addressing variances to optimise outcomes.

Partnering with business stakeholders to enhance system performance and support organisational change initiatives.

Managing system enhancements, configuration changes, UAT, releases, and onboarding of new contracts.

Conducting data quality investigations, auditing large datasets, and ensuring data integrity.

Delivering compliance and operational reporting, analysing trends, exceptions, and improvement opportunities.

Using business intelligence tools to extract, visualise, and present insights to stakeholders.

Integrating data across systems to support informed decision‑making, business cases, and process optimisation.

Collaborating with Digital, vendors, and business teams to implement improvements and meet regulatory requirements.

Communicating performance outcomes, risks, and recommendations through reports and stakeholder engagement.

About You

Minimum 5 years' experience in a Business Analyst role.

Strong understanding of relational databases and advanced SQL skills.

Proficiency in SQL Developer, Oracle, Microsoft Access, Excel, Power BI, SAP Business Objects, Word, and PowerPoint.

Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.

Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks, particularly within Sydney Water.

High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship management skills.
