Working at Smartgroup offers more than a job. It is a dynamic workplace that matches the enthusiasm for the work you do and ambition for an exciting fast-paced career. We have all been hired for a purpose and a reason.

Every day you will be part of a team that helps support fellow Australians - many working in essential services, corporates, government, and not-for-profits - to take home more money in their pay packets.

Are you passionate about improving business processes and delivering meaningful outcomes through Agile delivery? We're looking for a Business Analyst to join our Finance team and play a key role in shaping solutions across Finance, People & Culture and Legal.

Working in the Corporate Squad within the PM Practice, you'll collaborate with stakeholders, product teams and squad members to analyse business needs, refine backlogs and deliver scalable, user-focused solutions that drive business value.

About the role

As a Business Analyst, you'll partner with stakeholders across the business to understand challenges, identify opportunities for improvement and support the delivery of products and platforms that enhance operational efficiency and user experience. You'll be part of a collaborative Agile environment where continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement and value delivery are at the centre of everything you do.

Key responsibilities:
  • Gather, analyse and document business requirements through workshops, interviews and user story mapping.
  • Refine and manage product and squad backlogs, translating epics and features into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyse business processes and data to identify gaps, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitate collaboration between business and technical stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of requirements and priorities.
  • Support UX/UI activities, including wireframing and solution design for digital products and platforms.
  • Drive process optimisation initiatives and contribute to the delivery of scalable, user-centric solutions.
You’ll bring:
  • 4+ years' experience as a Business Analyst within an Agile delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting product or platform delivery and business process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation and requirements gathering capabilities.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Miro or similar collaboration and work management tools.
  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Business, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Lean Six Sigma qualifications or process analysis experience will be highly regarded.
What’s in it for you?

Smart team members enjoy a range of benefits designed to support flexibility, wellbeing, reward, and growth:

  • Smart Leave, an additional week of leave each year
  • Free lunch every week
  • Up to 20 weeks Paid Parental Leave with superannuation contributions and a Return-to-Work Bonus
  • Make a Difference Days - paid days off to volunteer for the community and environment
  • Salary packaging and novated leasing benefits (of course!)
  • Free flu vaccinations
  • Employee Share Plan
