Job summary

Lithgow City Council in Lithgow, NSW seeks a Building and Development Officer to undertake building control work, pre-lodgement advice, and certification tasks to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and sound environmental practice.

You will assess applications, provide expert advice, and perform principal certifier duties within delegated authority, contributing to development planning and policy administration.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in building surveying, fire engineering or related discipline.
• Eligibility for Building Surveyor accreditation or equivalent.
• Experience in Local Government building control and relevant regulations.
• Knowledge of Development Cert/Fire Safety Regulation 2021 and WA WHS practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess development applications, certificates and development proposals in line with statutory requirements.
• Provide pre-lodgement advice and building certification tasks under direction.
• Prepare reports, briefs and correspondence on development proposals and compliance.
• Carry out duties of a Principal Certifier and maintain records per policies.
