Job summary

MSS Group is seeking a Building Cadet to gain hands-on site experience while learning from experienced Project Managers. You will work on live aged care and retirement living refurbishments, gaining exposure to site supervision and project coordination. This entry-level role is ideal for tradespeople moving into management or students studying construction management.

Location is South Coast, Berry. The position runs full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with Laptop, Phone, Uniform,

Qualifications

• Trade background and interest in moving into project management.
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in construction management or similar field.
• Valid work rights in Australia and a current driver’s license.
• Construction white card and police/clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in site supervision to keep contractor works on schedule and to spec.
• Monitor WHS compliance and document safety procedures.
• Coordinate contractors and suppliers to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Support financial tracking and identify project risks and opportunities.
• Learn contract management and full project lifecycles.
• Conduct weekly site inspections and safety audits.

Building Cadet – Kickstart Your Project Management Career

Location: South Coast, Berry

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Building Cadet, you'll gain hands‑on site experience, learning directly from experienced Project Managers. You’ll be exposed to bothsite supervision and project coordination – the perfect foundation for a long‑term career in construction project management.

This is an entry‑level role, ideal for:

• Someone with a trade background looking to move into project management, or

• A recent graduate or current student in Building and Construction Management

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in site supervision – ensuring contractor works are on schedule and to spec

• Monitor and document Work Health & Safety (WHS) compliance

• Coordinate contractors and suppliers to meet deadlines and budgets

• Support financial tracking, identifying project risks and opportunities

• Learn the ins and outs of contract management and full project lifecycles

• Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports for the Project Manager.

• Conduct quality inspections and ensure that any defects are corrected

• Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for both workers, sub‑contractors, clients and residents.

• Conduct weekly site inspections and audits in Rapid Inductto ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

A trade qualification and is looking to transition into site supervision or project management, OR

A Diploma or bachelor's degree in construction project management (or similar field).

Additional Requirements:

• Valid work rights in Australia

• Valid driver’s license

• Ability to obtain Police Clearance, WWAC and WWCC

• Construction white card
