Job summary

BESIX Watpac is seeking a Building Cadet in Our Construction SA division on a part-time basis, progressing through a graduate program that exposes you to engineering, design, estimating and safety. The two-year program develops technical knowledge within an on-the-job environment and builds professional business and leadership skills.

You will assist with cost plans, tenders, QA, safety, estimating, procurement, and general site duties as you rotate through project delivery activities, learning

Qualifications

• Currently studying a university-level degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook; willingness to learn new software.
• Demonstrated professionalism and strong work ethic.
• Proven track record for timeliness, accuracy and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing cost plans and tender documents; coordinate proposed tender lists.
• Support QA and safety management by monitoring compliance and documenting non-conformances.
• Contribute to estimating and project controls through take-offs, cost analysis, subcontractor reviews, procurement support, and budget forecasts.
• Assist with general site duties, office and administration as required.

Job Description

BESIX Watpac is seeking a Building Cadet to join our Construction SA division on a part-time basis, working through to our graduate program which will allow you to see all facets of the construction industry including Engineering, Design, Estimating and Safety this is a fantastic opportunity for a university student to secure a role with a Top Tier building contractor.

You will take part of our BESIX Watpac Graduate and Early Career Development Program. This program aims to develop and grow our future leaders. This two-year program builds technical knowledge within the context of an on-the-job environment and provides opportunities to develop professional business and leadership skills. BESIX Watpac Graduates & Cadets gain exposure to various areas of project delivery, and come together for learning workshops, networking, and social events.

This role will be responsible for:

• Assist in preparing cost plans and tenders by reviewing project requirements, compiling tender documentation, and coordinating proposed tender lists.
• Support quality assurance and safety management processes by monitoring compliance with project standards, documenting non-conformances, and assisting with the implementation of corrective actions.
• Contribute to estimating and project controls activities through quantity take-offs, cost analysis, subcontractor scope reviews, procurement support, and the preparation of tender submissions and budget forecasts.
• Assist with general site duties, office and administration as required.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require:

• Currently studying a university-level degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and ability and willingness to learn new software packages as required.
• Proven high level of professionalism and work ethic.
• Proven track record and ongoing focus on timeliness, accuracy and punctuality.
