Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a Budgeting & Forecasting Lead to oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across a large public sector portfolio in Sydney. The role requires delivering financial analysis, modelling and reporting to support executive decision making and Treasury negotiations.

In this role, you'll:

You will lead the organisations budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring budgets align with governance requirements and strategic priorities.

You will provide expert financial advice on labour costing, workforce planning and savings initiatives, while delivering analysis and insights to support executive decision making.

You will develop and maintain financial models, budget reporting and funding submissions that inform strategic planning and Treasury negotiations.

You will build strong stakeholder relationships across the organisation to support collaborative planning, robust financial governance and transparent reporting, while driving continuous improvement in budgeting and forecasting practices.

You have significant experience leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning within large, complex government or public sector organisations, with a strong understanding of Treasury and Statutory processes, funding frameworks and strategic resource allocation.

Your strong communication and stakeholder management skills allow you to build trusted relationships across senior government, executive and business stakeholders, influence decision making and navigate competing priorities in a complex operating environment.

You are confident engaging at the executive level and can lead challenging conversations, provide constructive advice and present clear, evidence based recommendations to support informed decision making and organisational outcomes.

Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline, supported by substantial industry experience. Supported by full membership of a recognised professional accounting body (e.g., CPA Australia, CA ANZ, ACCA).
