Job summary

Queensland Fire Department is seeking a Brigade Support Officer for the Rural Fire Service Queensland Central Region, based in Emerald. The role provides day-to-day operational and business support to local brigades, with a focus on empowering volunteers and ensuring effective community protection.

You will report to the Area Manager, interact with volunteers and stakeholders, and contribute to training, asset management and governance activities while meeting flexible hours during disaster

Qualifications

• Must meet mandatory requirements as per generic RFSQ Rural Officer One (RFOO1) role description.
• Experience with volunteers or volunteer organisations is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to rural fires and other emergencies to provide operational support and leadership on-site or in incident control centres.
• Support operational preparedness including station, equipment and fleet audits to ensure capability.
• Assist with bushfire mitigation activities and community education.
• Collaborate with coordinators to plan, procure and manage equipment items, catalogue or non-catalogue.
• Support fleet and station maintenance planning and manage unplanned maintenance activities.
• Attend brigade meetings to provide updates, advice and resolve issues; support brigade governance.
• Assist training coordination and delivery to identify and rectify volunteer training needs.
• Provide administrative support to brigades, including member and grant applications.
