Job summary

Queensland Fire & Emergency Services – Emerald QLD is seeking an Area Training Officer to coordinate, deliver and evaluate training for volunteers and brigades across the Central Queensland area. Reporting to the Manager Operational Training, you will lead needs assessments, develop annual training plans, coordinate inductions, ensure compliance with RTO standards, and support continuous improvement.

Applicants should hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent, be comfortable

Qualifications

• Must meet the mandatory requirements and attributes as outlined in the generic RFSQ Rural Officer Two (RFOO2) role description.
• Knowledge of, or experience working with volunteers and/or within a volunteer organisation is highly desirable.
• Proven commitment to maintaining bushfire competencies and operating in a team environment.
• Capacity to participate out of hours (night or weekends) during disaster operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the coordination, delivery, facilitation and evaluation of formal and informal training for volunteers and brigades.
• Conduct training needs assessments for volunteers to identify gaps in capabilities.
• Develop the annual training plan for the District focusing on volunteers.
• Coordinate onboarding activities for new brigade volunteers including inductions.
• Ensure training is delivered, assessed, and data entered in compliance with procedures.
