Job summary

Cardinia Shire Council is seeking a Bridge Maintenance team member to oversee upkeep of public walkways, bridges and lookout platforms across the municipality. You will perform small-scale repairs to wood, steel and concrete assets and may operate small plant and equipment.

The role requires practical construction experience, good communication and a strong safety mindset. Training for Level 1 Safety inspections will be provided to successful applicants along with relevant licences and first aid

Qualifications

• Experience in construction or similar practical work.
• Good communication skills and safety commitment.
• Ability to work independently or in a small team.
• Level 1 Safety inspections training is provided for successful candidate.

About the opportunity

• Council is seeking a Bridge Maintenance team member with practical hands on skills to help maintain public walkways, bridges and lookout platforms across the municipality.
• This maintenance officer will be able to undertake small scale repairs to wooden, steel and concrete asset types which will include operating small plant and equipment.
• The successful applicant will have experience in construction or similar practical works, along with good communication skills, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
• Level 1 Safety inspections is part of this role and Council will provide training for this basic qualification to the successful candidate.
• Relevant licences, traffic management training, first aid, construction trade experience and qualification will be beneficial in delivering the high quality outcomes needed in this role.
