Job summary

Mercure Sydney Blacktown is seeking a Part Time Commis Chef to join our kitchen team, mainly covering the breakfast shift for the hotel buffet and assisting with Distrikt Cafe's all-day menu. You will own the breakfast service, maintain high standards, and support stock and orders as needed.

We value trade qualifications, buffet service experience, strong communication, planning, and a can-do attitude to deliver great guest meals and a smooth kitchen operation during peak times.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications required.
• Experience preferred in buffet breakfast service/lunch service.
• Deliver consistent, high quality food while maintaining set food cost.
• Work with service teams to ensure quality product and service to guests.
• Great communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• Willingness to learn and go above and beyond for our guests.

Responsibilities

• Full ownership and operation of the kitchen including breakfast service whilst on shift.
• Ensure the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and quality are maintained.
• Preparing, cooking and serving breakfast for the hotel buffet
• Preparing food for Distrikt Cafe and the all-day dining menu
• Assisting with group dinners as required
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality ingredients delivered on time.
• Ensure kitchen is kept clean and dishes washed at shift end
• Assisting the GM with food orders and stock management
• Overseeing kitchen attendant as required
