Job summary

The Common Good operates social enterprise cafés and catering services in Caboolture, supporting medical research and patient care. We are seeking a reliable Cook or Kitchenhand to assist with basic cooking, food prep, and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen in a busy café team.

Experience in a café or commercial kitchen is desirable; applicants should be comfortable with practical kitchen work and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience in a café, commercial kitchen or similar environment
• Enjoys practical, hands-on kitchen work
• Is comfortable with basic food preparation & cooking
• Has high standards of personal cleanliness and kitchen presentation
• Is organised and able to manage competing tasks in a busy environment
• Works well as part of a team and is willing to assist wherever needed
• Is reliable, punctual and takes pride in their work and is willing to learn

Responsibilities

• Preparing ingredients and assisting with basic cooking and food production
• Assisting Chef and Cafe Manager with general kitchen tasks and cooking
• Following food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
• Completing scheduled kitchen cleaning tasks
• Keeping kitchen, cool room, freezer and storage areas clean and organised
• Receiving deliveries and assisting with stock organisation
• Managing general waste and recycling appropriately
• Reporting equipment faults, damage or maintenance issues to your manager
