Job summary

Elgee Industries is an Australian-owned manufacturer based in Dandenong South. We are seeking an experienced Brake Press Operator to join our manufacturing team and produce sheet metal components to exact specifications.

You will read and interpret engineering drawings, set up and operate CNC Press Brake machines, and check finished parts for dimensional accuracy. MIG and Spot Welding skills are advantageous; you will work both independently and as part of a team in a busy factory.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC Press Brakes and setting up machines to drawing specifications.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Skilled in measurement verification and dimensional quality control.
• Reliable and able to work independently as well as in a team.
• MIG Welding experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC Press Brake machinery and set up for production from drawings.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Measure finished parts to ensure dimensions meet tolerances.
• Fold sheet metal components accurately to specification.
• Identify and correct folding or dimensional issues.

Job description

Elgee Industries is an Australian-owned manufacturing company based in Dandenong South. We specialise in local manufacturing across Fan Systems, Ductware, Rack Systems and Filter Systems, supplying customers across Australia and New Zealand.

We are looking for an experienced Brake Press Operator to join our manufacturing team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on manufacturing role suited to an experienced operator who can read and understand engineering drawings, accurately fold products to specification and work independently with minimal supervision.

You will be responsible for producing a range of sheet metal components and finished products, with accuracy and quality being critical.

Your duties will include:

• Operating CNC Press Brake machinery
• Setting and operating the Press Brake to produce products from engineering drawings
• Reading and understanding engineering drawings and specifications
• Measuring and checking finished products to ensure they meet required dimensions
• Accurately folding sheet metal components
• Identifying and correcting folding or dimensional issues
• MIG Welding and Spot Welding as required
• Assembly of components
• Assisting in other areas of the factory as required
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area
• Working to production requirements while maintaining quality standards

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has current hands-on experience operating CNC Press Brakes
• Can read, understand and work from engineering drawings
• Has a good understanding of measurements, dimensions and tolerances
• Can accurately set up and operate a Press Brake without constant supervision
• Has a strong eye for detail and takes pride in producing quality work
• Is reliable, punctual and has a strong work ethic
• Can work independently as well as part of a team
• Can follow instructions and production requirementsIs comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment
• Can hit the ground running

MIG Welding experience is highly regarded and will be an advantage.

CNC Turret experience is also an advantage but not essential.

What We Are Looking For

This position is not suited to someone who requires extensive training or supervision to operate a Brake Press.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they can confidently interpret drawings, set up the machine and consistently produce products correctly to specification.

Reliability and attention to detail are essential.

Wages will be negotiated based on experience and skills.
