Job summary

Profile Solutions is seeking an experienced bookkeeper with strong Xero expertise to maintain accurate, ATO-compliant books across domestic and international transactions. The role covers end-to-end bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, BAS lodgement, payroll processing, and detailed monthly reporting.

The ideal candidate understands import/export GST, foreign currency accounting, and cross-border supplier/customer reconciliations. Familiarity with Dext/HubDoc and Xero Practice Manager is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven BAS lodging experience (registered BAS Agent or under supervision).
• Reconcile Australian and foreign bank accounts.
• Import/export trading experience preferred; understand GST on imports and export sales.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end bookkeeping in Xero (AP, AR, journal entries, GL).
• Reconcile domestic and international bank accounts and credit cards including foreign currency transactions.
• Prepare and lodge BAS monthly or quarterly and manage GST on imports/exports.
• Process payroll, STP reporting, superannuation and PAYG withholding.
• Produce monthly management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Support month-end close and assist with tax returns/audits.
• Assist with freight booking and purchase orders; raise invoices and follow up payments.

Bookkeeper Wanted - Xero Expert with BAS Lodgement & Import/Export Experience

You will be responsible for keeping the books accurate, up to date, and ATO-compliant, working primarily in Xero. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience reconciling both Australian and foreign bank accounts, and understands the accounting treatment of import/export trading (GST on imports, export sales, foreign currency transactions, and supplier/customer reconciliation across borders).

Key responsibilities

Manage end-to-end bookkeeping in Xero (accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and general ledger)

Reconcile domestic and international bank accounts and credit cards, including foreign currency transactions

Prepare and lodge quarterly (or monthly) Business Activity Statements (BAS)

Manage GST on imported goods and export sales, and ensure correct tax coding

Process payroll and STP reporting, superannuation, and PAYG withholding

Produce monthly management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

Support month-end close and assist the accountant with tax returns and audits

Assist with Freight booking

Assist with Purchase order generation

Raise invoices and follow up on payments

About you

Proven experience preparing and lodging BAS (registered BAS Agent, or working under one)

Demonstrated experience reconciling Australian and foreign bank accounts

Import/export or trading business experience strongly preferred

Understanding of Australian GST, foreign currency accounting, and ATO compliance

Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting or equivalent; membership of ICB/ABA a plus

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and deadline management

Experience with trading/inventory accounting, customs duties, and cross-border payments

Familiarity with Dext/HubDoc, Xero Practice Manager, or similar tools
