Job summary

Drac Mechanical is seeking a Boilermaker Quality Control Lead in Traralgon to blend hands-on fabrication with quality assurance, ensuring builds meet drawings and standards.

You’ll inspect fabrication and assembly, identify defects early and document QA checks, while guiding tradespeople to uphold high workmanship across generator enclosure projects.

This role offers a practical, hands-on environment where your trade experience directly improves workshop quality and reduces rework.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Boilermaker.
• Strong fabrication and manufacturing background.
• Confident reading and interpreting technical drawings.
• Keen eye for detail and quality workmanship.
• Experience with QA documentation is advantageous.
• Willingness to raise issues and discuss with the team.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on with the team fabricating project components.

Drac Mechanical is looking for a Boilermaker Quality Control Lead to combine hands‑on fabrication with quality control, helping ensure our work is built right the first time.

Working across major generator enclosure projects, you’ll spend time on the tools alongside the workshop team, while also taking ownership of quality inspections, defect identification and QA documentation.

Traralgon | Full-time

What you’ll be doing

• Work hands‑on with the team fabricating project components
• Inspect fabrication and assembly against drawings, specifications and quality requirements
• Identify defects early and work with the team to get them rectified
• Complete QA inspections, checklists and supporting documentation
• Monitor workmanship and help maintain consistent fabrication standards
• Identify opportunities to reduce rework and improve quality
• Provide practical guidance to tradespeople throughout the build

About you

• Trade‑qualified Boilermaker
• Strong fabrication and manufacturing experience
• Confident reading and interpreting technical drawings
• Strong eye for detail and quality workmanship
• Comfortable raising issues and having practical conversations with the team
• Confident using technology and completing electronic QA documentation
• Previous QA or QC experience is advantageous, but strong trade experience and the right mindset are equally important
