Job summary

Barminco is seeking a skilled Boilermaker for our Hazelmere workshop to support fabrication, welding, and maintenance of underground mining equipment. You will perform planned and breakdown maintenance and repair critical components to OEM/site standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaking/Welding).
• Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG, Stick, Flux Core experience preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Experience in mining or heavy industry is advantageous.
• Ability to meet site access requirements and basic compliance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment and infrastructure
• Inspect, maintain, and repair buckets, booms, trays, guards, and other critical components
• Conduct crack testing, gouging, and rebuilds to OEM and site standards
• Complete pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe and compliant for operation
• Accurately record maintenance activities and report defects or hazards
• Work closely with maintenance teams and supervisors to minimise equipment downtime

About our Role

Join the Barminco team as a Boilermaker in our Hazelmere workshop.

You’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality fabrication, welding, and maintenance services across our fleet of underground mining equipment.

Roster: 5:2 Monday to Friday

What will your day to day look like?

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment and infrastructure
• Inspect, maintain, and repair buckets, booms, trays, guards, and other critical components
• Conduct crack testing, gouging, and rebuilds to OEM and site standards
• Complete pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe and compliant for operation
• Accurately record maintenance activities and report defects or hazards
• Work closely with maintenance teams and supervisors to minimise equipment downtime

Our ideal candidate background includes

• Previous experience working as a Boilermaker (mining experience highly regarded)
• Trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaking/Welding)
• Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG, Stick, Flux Core experience preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Ability to meet all site access requirements (including, but not limited to, Medical, DAS, NPC & valid Manual Driver's Licence)
