Job summary

Barminco is seeking a Boilermaker for our Hazelmere workshop to perform fabrication, welding and maintenance on underground mining equipment. You’ll help ensure buckets, booms and guards meet OEM and site standards while minimizing downtime.

This role requires MIG, Stick and flux core welding skills, the ability to read technical drawings, and the capacity to pass site access requirements. Join a team focused on safety, quality, and career progression.

Qualifications

• Previous boilermaker experience, mining experience preferred.
• Strong welding skills across MIG, Stick and flux core processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Ability to meet site access requirements (medical, DAS/NPC & license).

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment and infrastructure
• Inspect, maintain, and repair buckets, booms, trays, guards, and other critical components
• Conduct crack testing, gouging, and rebuilds to OEM and site standards
• Complete pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe and compliant for operation
• Accurately record maintenance activities and report defects or hazards
• Work closely with maintenance teams and supervisors to minimise equipment downtime

Job description

Join the Barminco team as a Boilermaker in our Hazelmere workshop.

You’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality fabrication, welding, and maintenance services across our fleet of underground mining equipment.

Roster: 5:2 Monday to Friday

What will your day to day look like?

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment and infrastructure
• Inspect, maintain, and repair buckets, booms, trays, guards, and other critical components
• Conduct crack testing, gouging, and rebuilds to OEM and site standards
• Complete pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe and compliant for operation
• Accurately record maintenance activities and report defects or hazards
• Work closely with maintenance teams and supervisors to minimise equipment downtime

Our ideal candidate background includes

• Previous experience working as a Boilermaker (mining experience highly regarded)
• Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG, Stick, Flux Core experience preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Ability to meet all site access requirements (including, but not limited to, Medical, DAS, NPC & valid Manual Driver's Licence)
