Job summary

Barminco is seeking a Boilermaker for our Hazelmere workshop to support fabrication, welding and maintenance of underground mining equipment. You will carry out planned and breakdown maintenance, inspect critical components, and ensure compliance with site standards.

The role requires welding/fabrication skills (MIG, Stick, Flux Core), ability to read drawings and pass site access requirements. Opportunity for career progression within a global organisation.

Qualifications

• Previous boilermaker experience in mining is highly regarded.
• Strong welding and fabrication skills using MIG, Stick or Flux Core processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Must meet site access requirements (medical, DAS, NPC) and hold a valid manual driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment and infrastructure.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair buckets, booms, trays, guards and other critical components.
• Perform crack testing, gouging and rebuilds to OEM/site standards.
• Complete pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe for operation.
• Accurately record maintenance activities and report defects or hazards.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimise equipment downtime.

Job description

Join the Barminco team as a Boilermaker in our Hazelmere workshop.

You’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality fabrication, welding, and maintenance services across our fleet of underground mining equipment.

Roster: 5:2 Monday to Friday

What will your day to day look like?

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment and infrastructure
• Inspect, maintain, and repair buckets, booms, trays, guards, and other critical components
• Conduct crack testing, gouging, and rebuilds to OEM and site standards
• Complete pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe and compliant for operation
• Accurately record maintenance activities and report defects or hazards
• Work closely with maintenance teams and supervisors to minimise equipment downtime

Our ideal candidate background includes

• Previous experience working as a Boilermaker (mining experience highly regarded)
• Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG, Stick, Flux Core experience preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Ability to meet all site access requirements (including, but not limited to, Medical, DAS, NPC & valid Manual Driver's Licence)
