Job summary

Barminco is hiring a Boilermaker for our Hazelmere workshop in Western Australia. You will perform fabrication, welding and maintenance on underground mining equipment, delivering high-quality service and ensuring safe operation.

The role follows a 5:2 roster and requires reading drawings, and experience with MIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding. Ideal candidates will hold a trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaking/Welding), with mining experience highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Experience in welding and fabrication for mining equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong welding skills in MIG, stick and flux core processes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment and infrastructure.
• Inspect, maintain, repair buckets, booms, trays, guards, and other components.
• Perform crack testing, gouging and rebuilds to OEM/site standards.
• Complete pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe to operate.
• Record maintenance work and report defects or hazards.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimise downtime.

About our Role

Join the Barminco team as a Boilermaker in our Hazelmere workshop.

You’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality fabrication, welding, and maintenance services across our fleet of underground mining equipment.

Roster: 5:2 Monday to Friday

What will your day to day look like?

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment and infrastructure
• Inspect, maintain, and repair buckets, booms, trays, guards, and other critical components
• Conduct crack testing, gouging, and rebuilds to OEM and site standards
• Complete pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe and compliant for operation
• Accurately record maintenance activities and report defects or hazards
• Work closely with maintenance teams and supervisors to minimise equipment downtime

Our ideal candidate background includes

• Previous experience working as a Boilermaker (mining experience highly regarded)
• Trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaking/Welding)
• Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG, Stick, Flux Core experience preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Ability to meet all site access requirements (including, but not limited to, Medical, DAS, NPC & valid Manual Driver's Licence)
