Job summary

BUMA Australia is seeking a Boilermaker to join the Maintenance Team at Blackwater Mine in Central Queensland. The role covers both field and workshop tasks, including repairing, modifying and refurbishing large-scale surface mining equipment, while scoping jobs and coordinating parts with maintenance planners.

You will work on a 7/7 roster, day/night rotations, and contribute to safety, quality and reliability improvements across a wide fleet, including heavy-haul trucks and excavators.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification recognised in Australia.
• Experience in heavy-duty fabrication, welding, inspections and repairs.
• Current working at heights and confined spaces tickets.
• Current Standard 11 or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, repair and refurbish surface mining equipment, including buckets, trays, guards and structural components.
• Perform welding, cutting and metal fabrication in workshop and field environments.
• Inspect equipment to identify defects and required repairs.
• Modify and rebuild components to extend equipment life and reliability.
• Scope maintenance jobs and determine labour, materials and repair methods.
• Coordinate parts and consumables with planners and supervisors to prioritise work.
• Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, standards and quality requirements.

About The Role

We are seeking a full-time Boilermaker to join our Maintenance Team at Blackwater Mine. You will undertake diverse field and workshop work, including repairing, modifying and refurbishing surface mining equipment, while scoping jobs, coordinating parts and collaborating with maintenance planners.

Blackwater Mine

Located in Central Queensland, Blackwater Mine is one of the state’s largest coal mines, approximately 21 kilometres from Blackwater. BUMA Australia has delivered truck and excavator pre-strip operations at the site since 2012, moving more than 35 million bank cubic metres of material annually.
