Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a practical, reliable and quality-focused Welder/Fabricator to join our workshop team. This hands-on role is predominantly focused on stainless steel fabrication, with some mild steel work as required. The position is responsible for fabricating, welding and assembling components and fabricated products to a high standard, while working safely, efficiently and collaboratively with production, design and workshop teams. The successful applicant will be confident reading drawings, preparing materials, measuring and setting out work accurately, and producing strong, neat welds across a range of fabrication tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate, weld and assemble components in accordance with drawings, specifications and job requirements.
• Carry out MIG/TIG welding and general fabrication work, predominantly in stainless steel with some mild steel fabrication as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, measurements and work instructions.
• Measure, mark, cut, grind, drill and prepare materials accurately prior to welding or assembly.
• Use workshop tools and equipment safely, including grinders, saws, drills, clamps, jigs and welding equipment.
• Check finished work for accuracy, weld quality, alignment and overall presentation.
• Work with supervisors and team members to meet production priorities and delivery timelines.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and safe handling practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and workshop processes.

About you

• Previous experience in welding, fabrication, manufacturing, engineering or a similar workshop environment.
• Confident stainless-steel fabrication and welding skills; predominantly utilizing MIG and TIG processes.
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and measurements.
• Ability to work accurately with stainless steel, including preparation, fit-up, finishing and attention to weld presentation.
• Good attention to detail and pride in producing neat, accurate work.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
• Trade qualification in fabrication, welding, boiler making or a related field.
