Job summary

Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club on Sydney's Northern Beaches invites applications for a Boatyard Hand & Travel Lift Operator Trainee. You will learn on the job and receive paid specialist training to handle vessels with a 50-tonne Travel Lift, progressing with practical, hands-on experience in boatyard operations and coatings.

With time, you will gain safe vessel handling skills, polishing, and maintenance procedures while adhering to WHS and environmental standards.

Qualifications

The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) is looking for a motivated, practical and enthusiastic person to join our professional Boatyard team as a Boatyard Hand & Travel Lift Operator Trainee.

This is an exciting opportunity to learn on the job, receive paid specialist training and develop valuable skills in professional boatyard operations and vessel handling.

For the right person, we will provide training to become a Travel Lift Operator, including learning to safely lift, stand and launch vessels using our 50-tonne Travel Lift. These are specialised skills that can provide a strong foundation for a rewarding, long-term career in the marine industry.

Learn While You Work

You don’t need to arrive with years of boatyard experience. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and an interest in building a career.

Working alongside our experienced Boatyard team, you will receive practical, hands-on training and develop skills across:

Operation of our 50-tonne Travel Lift, following appropriate training.

Safe vessel handling and boatyard operations.

Sanding and application of marine coatings.

Vessel polishing and detailing.

Boatyard equipment, maintenance and operational procedures.

Marine environmental practices and Work Health and Safety (WHS).

As your skills and experience grow, so will your responsibilities.
