Job summary

Cockatoo Marine in Sydney Harbour is seeking a hands-on team member for a unique marina role. You will operate our marina bull forklift to launch and retrieve boats, and after training, skipper a 26-foot water taxi while enjoying harbour views.

This permanent part-time position offers weekend commitments, outdoor work, and opportunities to assist with maintenance and customer service. A safety-first mindset and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Current forklift HRW licence is essential.
• Experience operating larger industrial forklifts is highly regarded.
• Boat-handling or boating experience is an advantage.
• Safety-focused, reliable and comfortable working outdoors.
• Practical, independent work style with confidence in customer interactions.
• Reliable availability for weekend work is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate marina bull forklift to lift, launch and retrieve boats.
• Assist marina staff with safe movement and handling of boats.
• After training, skipper and operate a 26-foot marina water taxi.

About the role

This is a forklift job unlike any other. You'll be operating our large Marina Bull forklift, working outdoors with harbour views, launching and retrieving boats for customers who are genuinely happy to see you. After training, you'll also act as skipper and operate our 26-foot marina water taxi.

Key responsibilities

• Operating our marina bull forklift to lift, launch and retrieve boats
• Assisting the marina staff with the safe movement, launching and retrieval of customer boats
• After training, acting as skipper and operating our 26-foot marina water taxi
• Completing a variety of general maintenance tasks around the marina
• Providing helpful, friendly service to our customers
• Carrying out other duties as directed

About you

• A current forklift HRW licence is essential
• Experience operating larger industrial forklifts will be highly regarded
• Boat-handling or boating experience is an advantage
• You are safety-focused, reliable and comfortable working outdoors
• You enjoy practical work, can work independently, and are confident dealing with customers
• You can commit reliably to weekend work

As a permanent part-time employee, you'll receive 8 days of paid annual leave each year. That means you can choose either four full weekends off each year or eight weekends where you take either Saturday or Sunday as annual leave. Additional weekend leave can be arranged by agreement. There may also be opportunities to pick up additional casual midweek shifts if you would like more hours.

Cockatoo Marine is a marina in the middle of Sydney Harbour. Our customers keep their boats with us in racks as well as marina berths and we also have some commercial charter vessels living on site.
