Reo Group is seeking a part-time governance secretary for an independent Sydney school. You will run the Board's administration, attend monthly meetings in person, and support confidential governance tasks alongside the Chair and executive team.
The role offers hybrid arrangements, two days a week, with a clear pathway to influence governance and a trusted position within the boardroom.
Location: Sydney, NSW
Salary Package: $40k - $50k + Super for 2 days a week (equivalent to $100k - $120k full-time)
Role Highlights: A part-time governance appointment for an experienced professional seeking meaningful influence. Contribute to the Board's monthly meetings as a valued member of the room, work directly with the Chair, and support the effective governance of a respected independent school.
Reporting to the Board Chair, you will run the Board's administration and governance rhythm so that it can fulfil its mandate. You will attend the monthly Board meeting in person, maintain the Board calendar, summarise incoming reports and follow up Board actions with Board members and counsel. You will also manage the administration of the AGM. You will anticipate the Board's governance needs, ensure resolutions follow the right process, support constitution amendments and keep the Board informed on matters such as enrolment trends. You will build strong rapport with the school's executive team, work closely with the Chair, and handle highly confidential information with discretion.
You are an experienced governance or Board support professional who anticipates what is coming rather than simply reacting. A legal background is desirable, though not essential. You are trusted with highly confidential information, and you build strong working relationships at every level, from the Chair through to the school's executive team. Proactive and assertive, you are comfortable following up with Board members and counsel until the job is done. You are able to attend the monthly Board meeting in person at the school's campus and work on site one day a week.
This independent Sydney school is committed to strong governance and to the people who support it. The Board values a Secretary who is a genuine part of the meeting, not a voice on the phone, and offers a role with real trust and visibility.
