Job summary

Monadelphous invites applications for a casual FIFO painting role supporting ongoing rolling shutdowns and maintenance across major mining operators. The position offers point of hire from any Australian capital city with a pathway to ongoing rostered work, across FMG, Rio Tinto and BHP sites.

You will perform surface preparation and painting to specification, using brushes, rollers, and related tools, with safety and quality at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Required safety certifications: Heights/Confined Space.
• Gas Atmospheres qualification within 5 years.
• Basic Fire certification within 4 years.
• White Card and valid Australian Driver’s Licence.
• Right to work in Australia; inductions with major clients are valued.

Responsibilities

• Clean surfaces before and after surface preparation per spec.
• Mix and prepare paints to required colours.
• Use hand tools including brushes, rollers, sanding blocks, trimming knives.
• Apply paint with brushes/rollers, ensuring straight edges and minimal drips.
• Verify and inspect finished coatings after application.

Job description

Join Monadelphous in a casual FIFO role supporting ongoing rolling shutdowns and maintenance across FMG, Rio Tinto and BHP operations. Point of hire is available from any Australian capital city with potential to transition into ongoing project rostered work.

Duties

• Cleaning surfaces prior to and after surface preparation to specification.
• Selecting and preparing paints to required colours by mixing portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives.
• Use of hand tools, such as: paint brushes; rollers; sanding blocks; wallpaper cutters; trimming knives; and fillers and spatulas.
• Applying paints to surfaces using all forms of brushes and roller nap types, using appropriate techniques to minimise drips, runs, and brush marks, and to maintain straight edges.
• Ensure all finished coatings have been verified and inspected after coating has been completed

Skills & Experience

• Working at Heights and Confined Space certification within 3 years.
• Gas Test Atmospheres within 5 years.
• Basic Fire certification within 4 years.
• White Card and current Australian Driver’s Licence.
• Right to work in Australia; FMG, Rio Tinto or BHP inductions highly regarded.
