Job summary

Dentons Australia is seeking an experienced Billing Systems Analyst to support our Banking & Finance practice in Sydney. This role focuses on Elite 3E billing configurations, process improvement, and revenue control for high-volume mortgage and lending matters.

You will translate requirements into system configurations, develop specifications, and deliver training to fee earners and finance staff while collaborating with partners, lawyers and IT teams.

Qualifications

• Specialist knowledge of legal billing systems and high-volume transactional workflows.

Responsibilities

• Review Elite 3E billing systems and processes for mortgage, lending, and high-volume matters.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Billing Systems Analyst to support our Banking & Finance practice in Sydney.

This is a specialist ICT Business and Systems Analyst position responsible for reviewing, evaluating and improving the Elite 3E billing systems and processes that support high-volume residential mortgage matters, portfolio lending, secured lending transactions and institutional banking clients.

Working closely with partners, lawyers, legal assistants, Finance, Accounts and IT, you will translate business requirements into effective system configurations, functional specifications and practical process improvements. You will play a central role in ensuring complex client billing arrangements are processed accurately and on time, while helping the practice strengthen revenue management and financial control.

This opportunity will suit an accomplished Elite 3E specialist who combines advanced systems capability with a strong understanding of legal billing and high-volume banking and finance workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Review and evaluate Elite 3E billing systems and processes supporting residential and commercial mortgage, secured lending and other high-volume Banking & Finance matters.
• Analyse the processes underpinning the preparation, review and finalisation of large volumes of invoices.
• Design and modify matter and billing configurations for fixed-fee, transaction-based and volume-driven pricing arrangements.
• Develop system specifications for proforma generation, invoice approval workflows, matter billing groups and client-specific billing requirements.
• Investigate complex billing and system issues involving significant transaction volumes and multiple stakeholders.
• Develop and implement functional solutions, system test plans, billing enhancements and process automation initiatives.
• Analyse WIP, billing and financial reports to identify discrepancies, process issues, revenue trends and potential revenue leakage.
• Manage billing adjustments, write-offs, write-ups, transfers and matter corrections within Elite 3E.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy, workflow efficiency, system functionality and stakeholder service.
• Create user documentation and deliver system and billing process training to fee earners, legal assistants, Finance personnel and other users.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support compliance with firm policies and audit requirements.

About you

• Advanced experience using Elite 3E as a Business and Systems Analyst within a legal or professional services environment
• Specialist knowledge of legal billing systems and high-volume transactional workflows.
• Experience supporting Banking & Finance, mortgage processing, lending or a comparable high-volume practice.
• A strong understanding of legal billing methodologies and revenue management processes.
• Demonstrated experience processing large volumes of bills and managing competing billing deadlines.
• Advanced analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving capability.
• Experience using data and process modelling techniques to define business requirements and system solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with partners, lawyers, Finance, Accounts and IT teams.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to billing and financial accuracy.
• Clear, confident and professional communication skills.
