Job summary

Alfabs Group is seeking an experienced Bids & Proposals Manager to lead the estimating function for major projects in Australia. You will shape tender strategy, mentor the Estimating Team and collaborate with Operations, Commercial, Legal and BD to win high-value work.

You’ll own complex tenders from opportunity to submission, partnering with senior leaders to drive practical, competitive solutions and robust risk management.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years’ estimating experience across construction, engineering, infrastructure, mining or heavy industry.
• Proven experience estimating major projects valued from $10M–$40M.
• Experience within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 construction/engineering environment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, commercial risk and project delivery.
• Experience developing subcontract packages, tender strategies and Go/No-Go assessments.
• Strong client engagement skills, ideally including Tier 1 clients and ECI projects.
• Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or a trade/technical discipline.
• Strong Excel, analytical, communication and presentation skills.
• The ability to manage multiple complex tenders, competing priorities and deadlines.

• Manage multiple tenders while maintaining quality, governance and deadlines.
• Drive continuous improvement across estimating, tendering and project handover processes.

BID & PROPOSALS MANAGER – MAJOR PROJECTS

As our project pipeline and capability continue to expand, we’re looking for an experienced Bids & Proposals Manager to lead our estimating function and play a key role in securing the next generation of major projects for Alfabs Engineering.

This is not simply a role producing estimates.

Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager, you’ll lead the strategic development of complex, high-value tenders, manage and mentor our Estimating Team, work closely with our operational and commercial leaders and build trusted relationships with Tier 1 clients.

You’ll have a genuine seat at the table when we decide what we pursue, how we price it, how we manage the risk and how we win it.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of major tenders, typically across the $10M–$40M project range, developing commercially sound and technically robust estimates that position Alfabs to win the right work at the right margins.

You’ll bring together estimating, engineering, operations, construction, commercial, legal and business development expertise to develop winning tender strategies that can actually be delivered.

Just as importantly, you’ll lead and develop the people behind them.

You’re commercially sharp, technically credible and comfortable challenging assumptions. You can move between detailed estimating, client negotiations, construction methodology discussions and executive presentations without losing sight of the bigger picture.

You’ll ideally bring:
