Job summary

Alfabs Group is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Site Services team in Parramatta, NSW. You’ll bridge engineering, fabrication and site delivery, owning technical requirements from planning through to execution on major infrastructure and heavy industry projects.

You’ll coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers and field teams to deliver practical, buildable solutions, maintain safety and quality, and support planning with MS Project and Office.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (Construction Management is desired).
• 5–8 years of site-based experience in industrial or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in managing construction projects, particularly in the field of site services
• Solid understanding of industry safety requirements and standards
• Excellent written communication skills for preparing documentation and reports.
• Highly developed customer service and networking skills.
• Current driver’s license.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Owns on-site and off-site technical requirements for assigned projects.
• Reviews engineering drawings, specifications and client requirements.
• Develops shop drawings, construction methodologies, ITPs, quality documentation and technical deliverables.
• Collaborates with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Supervisors to deliver install solutions.
• Plans fabrication, yard assembly, modularisation, transport and installation methodologies.
• Provides technical support and resolves issues throughout delivery.
• Coordinates with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensures compliance with codes, standards and quality requirements.
• Supports planning and reporting using MS Project.
• Identifies opportunities to improve constructability and productivity.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Project Engineer, you’ll be a key link between engineering, project management, fabrication and site delivery.

You’ll take ownership of project technical requirements, help solve construction challenges before they become site problems, and ensure our teams have the drawings, methodologies, quality documentation and technical support they need to deliver safely and successfully.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking ownership of on-site and off-site technical requirements across assigned projects.
• Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and client requirements.
• Developing and coordinating shop drawings, construction methodologies, ITPs, quality documentation and technical deliverables.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Supervisors to develop practical, buildable installation solutions.
• Planning and documenting fabrication, yard assembly, modularisation, transport and installation methodologies.
• Providing technical support and resolving engineering and construction issues throughout project delivery.
• Coordinating with clients, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ensuring project activities and documentation comply with relevant codes, standards, specifications and quality requirements.
• Supporting project planning, programming, reporting and delivery using MS Project and Microsoft Office.
• Identifying opportunities to improve constructability, productivity and project outcomes.
• Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, programme and successful project delivery.

We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer who understands that successful engineering is about more than what works on paper — it needs to work on site.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Tertiary Qualification - University degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management Desired
• 5-8 years of experience in a similar role within a comparable-sized organisation.
• Proven site-based experience in an industrial environment or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in managing construction projects, particularly in the field of site services
• Solid understanding of industry safety requirements and standards
• Excellent written communication skills for preparing documentation and reports.
• Highly developed customer service and networking skills.
• Current driver’s license.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project
