Job summary

Alfabs Group, a leading Australian engineering, manufacturing and construction group, is seeking a Project Engineer for major Sydney NSW projects based in Parramatta. You’ll bridge engineering, project management, fabrication and site delivery to turn designs into buildable solutions.

You will own technical requirements on site, tackle fabrication challenges and ensure drawings, methodologies and quality documentation support safe, successful delivery.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or Construction Management) is required.
• 5–8 years of experience in a similar role within a comparable-sized organisation.
• Proven site-based experience in an industrial or heavy industry environment.
• Proven experience managing construction projects, particularly site services.
• Solid understanding of safety requirements and on-site discipline.
• Excellent written communication for documentation and reports.
• Current driver’s license.
• Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of on-site and off-site technical requirements across assigned projects.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and client requirements.
• Develop and coordinate shop drawings, construction methodologies, ITPs, quality documentation and technical deliverables.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Supervisors to develop practical, buildable installation solutions.
• Plan and document fabrication, yard assembly, modularisation, transport and installation methodologies.
• Provide technical support and resolve engineering and construction issues throughout project delivery.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure activities and documentation comply with codes, standards and quality requirements.

With a growing portfolio of major projects across Sydney and NSW, we’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our expanding Site Services team, based out of our Parramatta location.

This is an opportunity for an Engineer who enjoys being close to the action — working across engineering, fabrication and construction to help turn complex designs into practical, buildable solutions.

You’ll work alongside experienced Project Managers, Construction Managers and site teams, taking real ownership of the technical aspects of project delivery from planning and methodology through to execution and completion.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Project Engineer, you’ll be a key link between engineering, project management, fabrication and site delivery.

You’ll take ownership of project technical requirements, help solve construction challenges before they become site problems, and ensure our teams have the drawings, methodologies, quality documentation and technical support they need to deliver safely and successfully.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking ownership of on-site and off-site technical requirements across assigned projects.
• Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and client requirements.
• Developing and coordinating shop drawings, construction methodologies, ITPs, quality documentation and technical deliverables.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Supervisors to develop practical, buildable installation solutions.
• Planning and documenting fabrication, yard assembly, modularisation, transport and installation methodologies.
• Providing technical support and resolving engineering and construction issues throughout project delivery.
• Coordinating with clients, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ensuring project activities and documentation comply with relevant codes, standards, specifications and quality requirements.
• Supporting project planning, programming, reporting and delivery using MS Project and Microsoft Office.
• Identifying opportunities to improve constructability, productivity and project outcomes.
• Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, programme and successful project delivery.

We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer who understands that successful engineering is about more than what works on paper — it needs to work on site.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Tertiary Qualification - University degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management Desired
• 5-8 years of experience in a similar role within a comparable-sized organisation.
• Proven site-based experience in an industrial environment or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in managing construction projects, particularly in the field of site services
• Solid understanding of industry safety requirements and standards
• Excellent written communication skills for preparing documentation and reports.
