Job summary

Alfabs Engineering & Services, the flagship division of the ASX-listed Alfabs Group, is seeking a Bids & Proposals Manager to lead our estimating function for major projects. You will own tender strategy, mentor the Estimating Team and collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Commercial leaders to win high-value work.

You’ll influence Go/No-Go decisions, develop competitive tender solutions and build strong Tier 1 client relationships while driving revenue and margins.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years’ estimating experience across construction, engineering, infrastructure, mining or heavy industry.
• Proven experience estimating major projects valued from $10M–$40M.
• Experience within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 construction/engineering environment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, commercial risk and project delivery.
• Experience developing subcontract packages, tender strategies and Go/No-Go assessments.
• Strong client engagement skills, ideally including Tier 1 clients and ECI projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Estimating & Bid Team.
• Manage complex, high-value tenders from opportunity through to submission.
• Develop accurate cost estimates, methodologies, resource plans and programs.
• Review tender requirements and identify key commercial, delivery and project risks.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering and Projects to develop practical and competitive tender solutions.
• Support Go/No-Go decisions and develop tender strategy with Business Development.
• Develop subcontract packages and assess supplier and market pricing.
• Manage tender risk, contingencies, qualifications and contractual departures.
• Build strong relationships with Tier 1 clients and support ECI and tender negotiations.
• Present major tender recommendations to Senior and Executive Leadership.
• Manage multiple tenders while maintaining quality, governance and deadlines.
• Drive continuous improvement across estimating, tendering and project handover processes.
• Support achievement of revenue, margin and growth targets.
