Job summary

Drakes Supermarkets is seeking a part-time Department Leader to manage a fresh foods department, reporting to Store Manager. You will oversee stock and merchandising, drive sales and gross profit, and coach the team to deliver excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities include training staff, ensuring health and safety compliance, and maintaining strong KPI outcomes in a dynamic retail environment. Flexible availability and weekend rotation may be required.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Store Manager and Bakery Supervisor, this successful applicant will be responsible for managing the department as if it were their own store.

Some of the key tasks include ensuring accurate stock management and compliance, monitoring and achieving sales, and gross profit targets, train, coach and developing your team, all while ensuring the department consistently meets food health and safety requirements.

This is a permanent part-time position starting at 25 hours per week.

Availability Requirements

• Monday-Friday between 7am-6pm
• Fortnightly rotation of a Saturday or Sunday shift
• Ability to be flexible during periods of team leave.
• A willingness to support nearby stores if required.
