Job summary

NSW Health Pathology in Saint Leonards, VIC, seeks a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Bacteriology Division on a temporarily full-time basis. You will perform specimen reception, triage, and processing while supporting a 24/7 rotating roster and maintaining high-quality diagnostic services.

Qualifications

• Recent demonstrated experience in a diagnostic clinical bacteriology laboratory.
• Ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment with competing priorities and time constraints.
• Effective communication with colleagues and customers, internal and external.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
• Willingness to operate and maintain pre-analytical equipment.
• Proficient computer skills including data entry and accuracy.
• Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and handling of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Receive and triage specimens and register patients.
• Enter requests and manage specimen processing for transport to laboratories.
• Support 24/7 rotating roster after training.
• Assist in maintaining high-quality pathology service within the Department of Microbiology.
