Speechify, the leader in text-to-speech, seeks a Software Engineer for Platform in Melbourne. You will design, build, and own the backend APIs powering payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics across web and mobile clients.

Qualifications

• Backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js.
• Proven experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Ability to automate and streamline workflows.
• Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and debugging.
• Solid judgment on feature trade-offs and simplification.
• Collaborative mindset with cross-functional teams.
• Clear technical communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API.
• Improve services for speed, cost, and reliability.
• Validate changes with end-to-end checks and keep guardrails in place.
• Automate repetitive tasks and expand reusable components across the team.
• Generalize work to be repeatable and scalable by the whole team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations on top of Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to advance backend architecture.
