Job summary

Qantas Airways is expanding its software engineering team at the brand-new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide, delivering robust, scalable backend systems that power seamless digital experiences for customers. As a Back-End Developer, you will guide architecture, drive delivery and contribute hands-on coding to ensure reliability, security and high performance.

You’ll work with Java/Spring, cloud-native AWS, Docker and Kubernetes, maintain observability and CI/CD practices, and collaborate

Qualifications

• 3+ years in hands-on Software Engineering.
• Experience building high-traffic backend applications.
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
• Cloud-native development on AWS.
• Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions; Git and tests.
• Observability tools like Splunk or Datadog.
• Strong focus on code quality and continuous improvement.
• Understanding of architectural concepts and cloud design.
• Accountability and collaborative mindset.
• Experience with multi-threaded asynchronous code.
• Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager is a plus.
