Job summary

The Network in Canberra, ACT seeks Azure Cyber Security Engineers (APS5-EL1 equivalent) for hands-on security engineering roles. You will implement and configure Microsoft Azure security controls, work with Sentinel, Defender, Entra ID and Intune, and contribute to security playbooks and documentation.

Roles involve incident response, vulnerability remediation and continuous security improvement across cloud and endpoint environments, with NV1 clearance and 12-month plus extensions.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender XDR/Defender for Endpoint, Entra ID, Intune, Azure security controls or Tenable.
• For more experienced candidates, demonstrated experience implementing and configuring security technologies, Sentinel/KQL detection engineering, security integrations, vulnerability remediation and Azure security hardening.
• For developing engineers, strong fundamentals with exposure to Microsoft security technologies and willingness to learn in an engineering-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Implementing and improving security controls across Microsoft Azure and hybrid environments.
• Working hands-on with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Entra ID and Intune.
• Improving security logging, monitoring, detections and alerting.
• Investigating security incidents and supporting technical remediation.
• Identifying and remediating vulnerabilities across cloud and endpoint environments.
• Supporting security hardening aligned with the ISM and Essential Eight.
• Troubleshooting security tooling, configurations and integrations.
• Working alongside experienced cyber engineers, infrastructure, cloud and identity teams.
• Contributing to technical documentation, procedures and security playbooks.
